DETROIT — President George W. Bush will honor the 2008 Stanley Cup champion Red Wings during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House on October 14 at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Members of the 2008 Red Wings, led by captain Nicklas Lidstrom, will gather at the White House for the ceremony. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Red Wings owners Mike and Marian Ilitch, general manager Ken Holland and coach Mike Babcock also are scheduled to attend.

This will be the second time that the Red Wings have visited the White House under the current Bush administration. They last were invited to the White House on November 8, 2002 to commemorate the 2002 Stanley Cup title.
