Updating Booktoots Healing

Updating Booktoots Healing website

Hi everyone. Kindly pardon my site’s readability while I update the site I promise to finish it as soon as possible. It is no easy task updating this WordPress themed site, in my opinion. I’m doing by best, though on updating Booktoots’ Healing to satisfy your reading pleasure.

In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

Take some time to look around and read my articles/post on why you are not alone during your total knee replacement surgery recuperation. Or, if you are dealing with other conditions (aka leg length discrepancy, double vision, shortness of breath, etc.) – there may be something here for you. I am a tkr blogger who daily deals with all those issues.

Remember, I share my personal experiences on my tkr blog to help others feel less alone. Feel free to post a comment whenever possible, even when I am updating Booktoots Healing. How is that SEO?

Thanks again for all your support, patience, and fortitude.

Breathing Is A Gift: Treasure It

Hi everyone. Do you every think that breathing is a gift? It is so easy to take it for granted when all is going well. Here is a real-life story to provide more insight into why you need to treasure it.

As many of you already know, I fractured my C-1 (first cervical vertebrae) in 1975. One of the after effects is breathing difficulties. Shortness of breath is a daily occurrence for me ever since. There are many trigger points that enhance its impact.

Improper pillow. You probably see commercials about the importance of having a comfortable pillow. Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to buy a good-fitting, comfortable pillow? I have. The process is termed..PITA. If you don’t know what that stands for, just …as the saying goes…GOOGLE it.

Pillows can seem so worthwhile in the market, while feeling them up. It’s only when getting home and actually using them that the truth comes out. Either too full, too flat, too fluffy, or too cumbersome.

The wrong pillow affects my breathing. It may affect yours, as well. This occurs when the vertebrae are misaligned. Pain shoots everywhere from my head to my toes. (Especially my neck.) A misaligned neck makes breathing very difficult. It hinders sleeping, also. Not good….

There are many nights when sleeping on folded towels is the solution. Or, simply laying flat. Flatness provides instantaneous relief. Nice…

Mattress. A good mattress makes all the difference, also. Pillow-top versions do not feign well with spinal alignment. Some consider these versions “romantic”, not me. Give me a firm mattress any day and twice on Sunday.

Regularly rotating and turning the mattress will help even out mattress wear-and-tear. A mattress that needs rotating will cause spinal misalignment – hence, shortness of breath.

Poor posture. This is common sense, but must be mentioned. The older I have gotten, the more I realize not everyone has common sense. Shortness of breath occurs more often when my neck is misaligned.

Poor diet. After 40+ years of living with daily shortness of breath, I know for a fact that processed foods, in particular, hinder my breathing. It may be the preservatives, excess sugar/fat/additives, or handling. Whatever it is, I minimize my usage of these “foods”.

Stress. Isn’t stress the cause of many health problems? You bet it is. Whatever shape or form it takes, excess stress hinders breathing. I would think we all share that dilemma. It’s only when realizing it that we can change it. Sometimes it is much easier said than done.

OK…I think that’s enough for now. You may be wondering why I choose to write about breathing on a blog that mainly discusses total knee replacement concerns. It is because I have been experiencing increased bouts of shortness of breath lately. I blame it on the pillow. It also happened during my tkr recuperation.

Hope this helps others going through the same thing.

MORAL OF STORY: Never take your breathing for granted. There are those who would give almost anything for the delight of effortless breathing. Breathing is a gift…Treasure it.

Advertisers: Promotion Requires Tact

Hi everyone. The Internet brings out all kinds of people who want something for nothing. Or, a quick fix. I recently updated my listing to numerous sites in an attempt to increase publicity. What’s happened? I forgot about the existence of tactless product promotions that exist out there. Advertisers: Promotion Requires Tact.

I have received numerous comments about how someone just read about certain things they see on my site. Well, in the comment, individuals leave their website address. It turns out that the commenter sells the products. That is not the way to gain publicity.

If you sell a product that provides miracle cures, is the best thing since cut cheese or one that you simply cannot live without…..keep it to yourself. It doesn’t belong on this site. It will go into my Trash bin. Promotion Requires Tact.

And, listing these type of comments is an unsolicited form of advertisement. It is not appreciated at all. In addition, the comment is a negative reflection of yourself and product.

If anyone is truly interested in letting my readers know about a product that may help them, contact me directly. Discuss the topic in intelligent terms that spark interest and a want for further information. It is that easy.

That’s all there is to that. Remember….Advertisers: Promotion Requires Tact. Thanks for your time.

Book Purchasing Update

Hi everyone. There seems to still be some confusion about ordering my books. Here’s the scoop just to clarify everything:

When purchased directly from my website, with payment via PayPal – the books will be transmitted to you when I receive payment notification. I do not currently have the software capable of allowing instant downloads. Hence, the books are NOT immediately downloadable.

You will receive a thank you email from me. If I do not have immediate access to the files (I do not sit in front of my computer 24/7..:) ) – I will notify you of a time frame. More than likely, you will receive the book within 24 hours after your payment has cleared.

I hope this clears up any confusion. All the details are located on my Books Page, but I thought a separate post may also be helpful to those so interested.

Thanks again for all of your support. Have a great one and remember to keep returning to this site for further insight about a number of topics.

How Does A Stronger, More Flexible Back Sound? You Need It!…

Hi everyone! Having a strong back is crucial for supporting the musculoskeletal system and overall bodily operations. There are so many health benefits achieved, I believe it is worthy to discuss the matter in detail. So…here goes….

* Improved posture. Strong back muscles keep the back and body better aligned. Poor posture is a leading cause of many health ailments. With so many people being tied to computers, smart phones, or other hand-held devices today, this is especially troublesome.

Poor posture misaligns your internal organs. This can hinder circulation to all body parts. Energy blocks cause all types of negative medical ailments including pinched nerves, blood clots, breathing difficulties, and swollen extremities.

Poor posture can cause disk damage and other spinal deformities. Vision can suffer. Negative effects can show up immediately, or develop over time. Either way, your overall functioning will begin to suffer.

* Better body balance. You will lose your balance more easily when your spine is not properly aligned. This leads to increased risks of falling, tripping, sliding, or other similar movements.

* Decreased back pain. Back pain is a common complaint among patients seeking orthopedic or chiropractic assistance. Keeping your back strong and supple lowers your risks of experiencing all pain levels.

* More energy. All people, especially tkr patients, know the importance of having enough energy to perform daily and/or work activities. Strong muscles that support a health spine improve energy. When your body is aligned as intended, it works at optimum levels. Like it was intended.

* Decreased reliance of pain medications. Most people experiencing any level of back pain usually ask the doctor for a pain medication. Keeping your back muscles strong, properly aligned, and healthy will reduce this need.

* Lowers chances of muscle strain. All of your body’s muscles are interrelated in some manner. Strains can occur in any muscle. All levels can lay you up for various time periods.

More insight: http://www.spineuniverse.com/conditions/back-pain

So…. how can you easily achieve a stronger back? Swim. You will be strengthening and flexing your entire musculoskeletal system without even realizing it. There is zero pain due to the water supporting the majority of your body weight. There is minimal joint impact for this reason, also.

I have been swimming for years and notice a distinct improvement in my back muscle definition. It is easier to notice when my posture is slumping, or not up to par. And…my clothes fit better. What more can I ask for?

Start swimming today for improved back health and share your experiences here. We would love to hear how from you. 🙂
