Detroit Wins Game 1 of Western Conference Finals

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2, in today’s opening game of the 2009  Stanley Cup Playoffs Western Conference Finals.  It was a great game to watch.  The game was broadcast on NBC, with Doc Emrick as the play-by-play announcer.  Color commentary was provided by Eddie Olyczk and Pierre McGuire.

It’s going to be a realy good series, and my prediction is Detroit in 6.  I just checked the series’ schedule and see that Game 6 will be held in Chicago.  Bummer…:(

Oh…we know what’s coming.  The game was played at The Joe (Joe Louis Arena) in Detroit.  The Wings won.  So….

The Hockey Song

Oh, the good old hockey game,

Is the best game you can name

And the best game you can name

Is the GOOOOD OLDDDDD HOCKEEEEEY GAAAAAME!!

Written by Stompin’ Tom Connors

I hope those watching the game had a chance to hear this song.  The announcers are usually speaking over it. 🙁
