Does Weather Affect A TKR?

Some of you have asked me “Does weather affect a tkr?” Seems that many of you are having individual concerns and unusual pains associated with weather changes.

In my case, I have not noticed much of any affect upon my tkr at all. Cold, wet,or warm….it hasn’t made a noticeable difference to me. That is a vast improvement from before my surgery when cold, wet weather was definitely my demise. 🙁

FYI: My tkr has drastically improved my decreased knee flexibility, extreme pain, and other negative knee concerns associated with a “poor” knee. Before my tkr, my damaged knee was my weather forecaster. I could sense the rain and cold like the Doppler radar.

So, sorry I can’t be of any more help in the area of weather affecting a tkr. FYI: It’s been 16 months since my total knee replacement.

UPDATE: Nine years later..2018..I still notice no weather effects of my tkr. Maybe a little more stiffness than usual, but nothing serious.

Hope this helps others going through the same thing.

  1. yes .i live in asean county weather hot I CAN SLEEP ONLY 3 HOUR or 2 hour ..rainy day cannot sleep because cold .because i got TKR becuse i not use aircon to sleep weather hot or cold.country i live most modern city in asean

  2. It’s been a year and a half since my TKR. It’s unusually cold this winter, lots of snow and my “new” knee is hurting, feels stiff. Guess I should talk to an orthopedist about this.
